Obviously, our country and the world are going through a tough time right now. We know that you may be going through a difficult time also. So, first of all, if you need help, we want to help you. We can help with food, running errands, picking up groceries or medications from the store, whatever you may need, we want to help! So please reach out to us and let us know how we can help. We are called to be the church and take care of each other. Our commitment to each other is one way we can persevere through this difficult time.
I am also writing to encourage you to continue to stay faithful in your giving. We are asking that you begin to use online giving. (You can click on the following link to get started.) Setup Online Giving You can also mail or drop off your giving during the week if you would prefer.
We know this may be a tough time financially and are sensitive to that. That is also why God has set up a tithe as a percentage of the income we bring in. We understand that 10% of $0, is $0. And so does God. We also know that no matter what is going on around us, God has asked us to be faithful in giving back to Him.
Here at the church we have already made cuts to our budget and spending. There will be more to come based on the length of the current issues. We still have ministries to support and missions that need us to stay faithful. We can also be more of more help in the community with more resources at hand.
Here is the good news: Through God’s provision, excellent leadership by our elders, continued growth over the last few years, and your dedication, we are in an excellent place to be able to weather this storm. God has blessed Southern Heights and I believe that even in the midst of this difficulty we will see people come to Jesus. We have the technology infrastructure needed to produce online content. This content can then be sent out to people who may never have or never will, step inside our building, but right now may be looking for hope.
Here is what you can do.
We are asking for everyone to do these 4 things through this difficult time:
- Pray– for our nation, our world, our community and that through this, those that don’t know God will come to faith in Him.
- Love your neighbor– Show Jesus to those around us in these difficult times. Share what you have, check on your neighbors, look for ways to help.
- Engage online– We have all kinds of online options to learn, get involved and worship together. Use those tools and share them with others.
- Give– Continue to be faithful in your giving as we continue to show our community that Christians live with an eternal mindset.
Together we will get through these difficulties and we will show Laclede County what it means to be faithful followers of God. Thank you for your faithfulness to God and to SHCC.
