Missions Walk June 2021

Central Christian College of the Bible & Ozark Christian College

Our “walk” through life has milestones and one of them is often college.  Southern Heights supports two Christian Colleges:  Central Christian College of the Bible, Moberly, MO, and Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO.  We are indebted to both for giving us, Jeff (our pastor) who graduated from Ozark and Miranda (our new Children's Minister) who graduated from Central.  Through Southern Heights' giving to these colleges, they, in return, have given us leaders.
Not only do these Christian colleges produce Christian ministry leaders, but they also continue to sustain, encourage, and aid those after they enter the ministry.  A preacher in Mound City, Kansas, shared his story:  “After a difficult start in ministry, I stepped away from ministry. I subsequently got a call from Mound City, Kansas, to interview.   I was hesitant to go to small-town Kansas and about stepping back into ministry.  Shortly after my interview, I attended Ozark Christian College's Preaching-Teaching Convention.  I went to a workshop on the power of the small church, and the messages that week fired me up.  When I walked out, I was ready to answer the Lord's call to Mound City.”

Many looking at college wonder how they will be able to afford the expense.  Central Christian College of the Bible's has a very affordable tuition program and generous scholarships that draw many with financial needs.  Central recently expanded their reach to offer undergraduate and graduate classes to students in the Florence, Kentucky, area.  May 17, 2021, marked the first day of classes there.

While I cannot cover all that these two colleges offer, I will end with this quote that shows the breath of influence that these colleges can have from the personal level to the making of Christian leaders.  This quote from a Ozark Graduate: “This is the degree I will use every day of my life, until I take my last breath.”
