Missions Walk - MSU and MU CCH

Missions Walk – Missouri State University & University of Missouri Christian Campus Houses
Walk this way, talk this way.....society tries to tell us what to do.  Young college students are especially vulnerable to this mixed bag of messages.   Students step onto college campuses and are bombarded with new ideas, messages of change, and decisions, decisions, decisions.. among other pressures that are associated with this major milestone in life.  During their college years, they will either carry the values they have been brought up with (hopefully Christian), turn from them, and/or follow a secular path that can be sold as new, exciting, and progressive while holding many hidden dangers.  While I am not trying to paint a dark picture of colleges experiences or that they always lead down a dark path, I am saying help in discerning and making good choices can make a huge difference in the life of students and especially with their walk with God.
Where do they get help making good choices and staying focused?  This church supports two Christian Campus Houses, one at Missouri State University in Springfield, and the other at Missouri University in Columbia.
Why Christian Campus Houses?  Students while not attending classes and studying have free time.  They are open to invitations  and opportunities not given to them while at home, they meet new friends (sometimes with different values), etc.  They have a new and busy life where spiritual life can sometimes take a backseat. Where they can sometimes loose track of even their academic goals.  Christian friends, fellowship and support can mean a much more positive college experience.
What opportunities do Christian Campus Houses provide?  If involved in a Christian Campus House, students experience Christian fellowship and get help staying focused on their goals and on spiritual matters.  When students initially arrive they are often greeted with support through CCH back-to-school events such as a “New Student Festival” or a block party to introduce them to the facilities.  Students also get different opportunities monthly to take fun outings such as, float trips, coffee house night, cookouts and more just to name a few held during the year.  They can choose to participate in Bible studies, outdoor worship services held on campus, mission trips  and service related events giving them the opportunity to serve others.  Student Ministers are always available for guidance to help students walk through college life.  Last, but certainly not least (for example) 133 students will call the CCH at Missouri University home in 2021.
I don't know about you, but I still desire and need Christian fellowship to walk the path of life.  I have previously attended a dinner at Missouri State University held to thank those who donate support and to give college students the opportunity to give their testimony regarding how much their Christian Campus House experience meant to them.  It was very meaningful to hear directly from the students the positive impact a Christian Campus House has on college students.
Christian Campus Houses provide a wonderful opportunity for Christian support, guidance, meaningful experiences, spiritual growth, housing and much more.  Have a child ready to take on their college years?  Look into this amazing resource available for students and parents!
